After the Cuban Revolution, all privately-owned bus companies were nationalized and in 1961, a new state-owned operator, Empresa de Ómnibus Urbanos de La Habana was formed. All former COA (Cooperativo de Omnibus Aliados) route numbers remained unchanged and other operator's routes were incorporated to the new system. By 1965, many GM buses were refurbished and repainted in new livery of the cobalt blue and cream with tangerine stripe, similar to brand-new Leyland Olympic buses. Despite lack of the spare parts in the 1960s, the GMs served Cuban Capital until 1970s.
