Between 1954 and 1959, sixty-nine S-type interurban cars were delivered to the large SNCV group in the Hainaut. The most modern rolling stock was used in the Charleroi area - PCC cars were used for urban routes and S-type cars for interurban routes; very interesting was route 90 with magnificient ride along the whole spine of Hainaut province. The S-type cars in the Hainaut had the grey roof instead of regular tan. The SNCV's 'Standards' had a long life in the Charleroi, 43 cars were modified for use in the semi-metro system and 18 cars were rebuilt by Jumet company in 80s, known as 'SJ' cars.
