The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority was formed in 1964 and in 1966 it created a new livery of gray and white with yellow painted doors. It was introduced on new MBTA's buses and also a few PCCs, include all-electric car 3198. Car 3198 was painted Tangerine and Cream when it was involved in the rear end wreck and because of the damage it was repainted into the Gray & White & Yellow scheme which was coming into use at that time.
