In 1951 the Montreal Transportation Commission was formed and it decided to replace the rail service with buses and trackless trolleys. The livery of the Montreal PCC remained almost unchaged after the 1951, but Montreal Tramways logo was replaced by red 'T'. The PCC cars remained on the Outremont line until August 1958 when it was abandoned and thereafter they were assigned to 44-Papineau and 54-Rosemont lines until the end of the rail service in Montreal on August 30, 1959. The MTC tried to sold the PCC cars which were only 15 years old, but no buyers were found and in the spring of 1963 all cars except 3517 were sold for scrap. Car 3517 was sold to the Canadian Railway Historical Association.
