During World War II, Pittsburgh Railways faced both spare parts procurement problems and insufficient modern cars for all routes. PCC cars were reassigned to car houses according to the manufacturer of the electrical equipment and many low-speed Jones cars were returned to service. In June 1942, just one month after the arrival of the 1400s, PRCo placed a new order to St.Louis Car Co., it was only for 65 cars because of the war-time restrictions, they were shipped to Pittsburgh between November 1944 and July 1945. Car 1547 of that order was transferred to Minneapolis prior to delivery and replacement car was built for Pittsburgh. The 1500s were almost identical to the 1400s but had a second air scoop on the roof. By 1967 they were withdrawn from service. The 'stock' version represents the 'as delivered' condition with cream canvas roof and trolley pole shroud. Dark gray canvas roof version may be available on request. PRCo logo also may be applied on the model at request.
