In May 1941, PTC ordered ten additional one-man cars from St.Louis Car Co. (Job 1634) also for a heavy route 56. The cars were ready in April 1942 when the war already became a reality. The cars were finished in new paint scheme of green and cream with maroon beltrail and gray roof. Because of the wartime shortages, the aluminum trim moldings over the front door and rear windows were omitted and were imitated with maroon paint stripes. The one-man cars of the third Philadelphia PCC order were numbered 2081-2090 series (A-42 class). Last of them (cars 2084 and 2089) were withdrawn from service in 1982.
