In 1942 FIAT built two first European PCC cars, one for home city of Turin and one for Madrid, Spain. The first Italian PCC car was numbered 3001 in Turin and was painted in the traditional Italian two-tone green transit livery. In 1943, FIAT built five more cars of 3002-3006 series of almost same body design, but they were equipped with conventional Fiat 2045 trucks instead of more expensive B2-type trucks. The life of car 3001 in Turin was very short: at end of 1943 it was destroyed during the American air raids. After the war, in 1948, the car was rebuilt with a new body (at first with B-2 trucks, replaced in 1958 by TIBB-Brill 97E trucks). Between 1949 and 1958 FIAT built 125 trams for Turin (3100-3164 and 3165-3229 series) with bodies very similar to 3001 and also with remote controls.
