In March 1958 the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (LAMTA) took over all operations of LATL and Metropolitan Coach Lines. The first PCC car received new two-tone green livery with white roof, was 3075, however 26 P-class PCCs remained in the old LATL livery until the end of the trolley operation in March 1963. By 1958, on all P-class PCCs the front and back ends of the drip rails (over the doors and rear end) were removed, a vent hole with metal cover was cut into the left front corner of the car and new windshield wipers were installed. Because of the superb maintenance practicies, almost all P-class cars were sold to Egypt and Chile, car 3001 was preserved at the Orange Empire Trolley Museum.
