Between 1936 and 1938 all London Transport Felthams were allocated to the Telford Avenue and Brixton Hill depots, serving South London routes at Tooting, Streatham, Purley and Brixton. At this time the route stencils were replaced by destination blinds and quick release air brakes were installed. During World War 2 two Felthams (Nos. 2109 and 2113) were destroyed as a result of enemy action. After the war London Transport had announced that the remainder of the trams were to be replaced by diesel buses instead of trolleybuses, however the 102-mile reminder of the tram system lasted until 1950 when the 'Operation Tramaway' was announced. In the post-war years all Felthams retained the headlamp masks which had been fitted upon outbreak the war.
