In 1964 Chicago Transit Authority received 180 new rapid transit cars from Pullman-Standard and numbered them 2001-2180. These 'New Look' cars had a fiberglass front end which allowed the designers to create the unique look for the end of the car; large picture windows were also incorporated. The aluminum was also widely used. New CTA-1 trucks, a join effort of CTA and LFM Manufacturing Company, were installed and the General Electric SCM-type propulsion control was a result of the several years of tests on cars 6129-6130. 100 h.p. motors and 28' diameter wheels were used, giving the high performance characteristics to these cars. The interior used light colors with light blue seats; air conditioning was installed. This series of cars introduced the Mint Green and Alpine White livery to Chicago's Rapid Transit. Starting from 1972, the series adopted a new Platinum/Black livery; a few were painted in the Bicentennial scheme and later they were painted in red, white and blue 'Spirit of Chicago' scheme. Last of the 2000-series cars were retired by the beginning of 1994; cars 2153-2154 were preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum.
