The 'Type N' cars were designed for use on the urban routes, however cars 10490-10499 were built in 1953 for use on the interurban route Brussels-Leuven; they were fitted with pantographs and they were very successful. They had the front entrance, similar to PCC cars used on this route. When Brussels-Leuven service ended in March 1962, these cars were rebuilt as 'S-type' and sent to Charleroi area.
