Only two of the Baby Tens, Nos. 1038 and 1040 were extensively rebuilt in 1979 to extend their lives because of delays in the light rail vehicle program. They received the new white, 'Sunset Glow Orange' and 'California Poppy Gold' design, created by Walter Landor. The last of the Baby Tens were withdrawn from service in September 1982.
