First forty Los Angeles trolley coaches of 8000-series were insufficient to provide full service on route 3 and 40 more coaches were ordered from ACF-Brill. First twenty coaches arrived in February 1948 and remaining twenty in July 1948 (those were last TC-44 coaches). This group was numbered 9001-9040 and had blue glass in the stationary sash of the side windows; with these coaches and new T-46 vehicles second trolley coach line #3 was established in December 1948. The coaches of 9000-series had GE control and 140 h.p. GE 1213J motor.
