Like many others transit companies, Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company wasn't ready for ridership jumping during World War 2. Because it was impossible to obtain new trolleys and buses, Philadelphia Transportation Company sold three 'Hog Island' cars (4024, 4045 and 4106) to Red Arrow in October 1942. They became Nos. 20-22. In 1949, upon arrival of the St.Louis Car Co. PCCs, the 'Hogs' were renumbered 25-27 and new 27 MCB-3X trucks were installed instead of the standard 77E-1s. However, the 'Hogs' were slow for Red Arrow standards and saw very limited use only for short-turn trips after the war. All three cars were out of service in June 1958; Nos. 25 and 27 were scrapped in 1964; Nos.26 was sold to Buckingham Valley Trolley Museum and become the very last 'Hog Island' car after the Woodland carbarn fire in 1975, when PTC U-34 (ex-5001) was lost. In 1996 it was destroyed in a fire. Available also in 1942-49 livery (standard 77E-1 trucks).
